The lower part of the Lower member is built up by volcanic breccia-rhyolitic tuff and the upper part andesite and andesite tuff. Upper memberis rhyolitic tuff with felsite and rhyolite. It is 3308 m thick. The rhyolitic gravel-bearing crystal tuff lava has given U-Pb age of 104-107 Ma.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base is unknown in the type area. In the Wuzhi Mountain, it lies unconformably on the underlying Lower Triassic Lingwen Fm.
Upper contact
The top marked by rhyolitic gravel-bearing crystal tuff lava shows an eruptive unconformable contact with the overlying Tangtadaling Fm consisting of andesitic lithic breccia lava.
Regional extent
The formation mainly occurs in the Liuluocun area of south Yanbei and in the Guling area of west Yanbei of Tonganling of the Hainan Island.
